The French Gourmet Bakery | The NEW Generation Begins
The French Gourmet Bakery, founded by Mary & Patrice Ramain, has been serving Houstonians for almost 40 years. They offer delicious French & American style baked goods including mouth-watering cakes, cookies, pastries and crusty French breads.
It all began five generations back when French-born Patrice’s parents began the baking tradition. Both his father’s father and grandfather and his mother’s father and grandfather were patrons / boulangers / pattissiers in the Loire Valley of France from the 1860’s.
Patrice was the first of his family to study at the prestigious Grands Moulins de Paris Baking School (in 1967) after completing extensive apprenticeships in cake, pastry and bread baking. Receiving accolades from his schooling and work/study experience, he followed in the footsteps of his Grandfather Aime who had received accolades of his own with the esteemed Medal of Baking Excellence.
After arriving in Houston, Patrice met his wife Mary at a wine-tasting party for which he had made the French bread for the bread and cheese to compliment the wines. Together they established the French Gourmet Bakery in 1973. Since then their family business has remained a Houston icon for those who adore their scrumptious cakes, cookies, pastries and breads.
The “NEW” generation, their daughter Lauren, is now joining the family business, and together they carry on this rich family heritage with love and an unwavering commitment to quality reflected in the delectable goodies offered to you and your family from the French Gourmet Bakery.
